About First Home Gym
Plain-English help for setting up your first home gym in a small space: what fits, what to buy first and how to use it.
Why this site exists
First Home Gym publishes plain-English guides about setting up a home gym in a small space. The goal is simple: help you understand the options, avoid common mistakes, and choose something that fits how you will actually use it.
How we research and write
- Sources first. We work from manufacturer specifications, manuals, warranty terms, and reputable public sources, and we link to them where useful.
- No invented experiences. Unless an article explicitly says a product was used hands-on, it is a research-based guide, not a hands-on test.
- Dated and revisited. Every article shows a last-updated date. We revise guides when products, prices, or advice change.
- Corrections. Spotted an error? Tell us and we will fix it.
How we use AI tools
Some articles are drafted with the help of AI writing tools. Drafts are then fact-checked against sources and edited before publishing. AI is a writing aid here, not a substitute for research or a source of product experience.
How the site makes money
Right now the site doesn’t earn money: product links are plain links, not affiliate links, and there are no ads. In the future some links may become affiliate links, which would earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. That will never decide which products we recommend or how they are ranked. Details are in our disclaimer.
Where our advice comes from
Equipment facts (bar and plate weights, dimensions, weight limits) come from manufacturer specifications and manuals and from published equipment standards such as those of the International Weightlifting Federation. General exercise guidance follows public sources such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. We don’t claim to have tested products we haven’t used, and we don’t publish star ratings or “best of” rankings based on hands-on testing. When we give prices, they are rough ranges that change often, so always check the current price.
Not medical advice
We write for healthy adults who are new to training at home. Nothing here is medical advice. If you have a health condition or injury, or haven’t exercised in a while, talk to a doctor before you start.
An independent site
First Home Gym is an information site. We don’t make or sell gym equipment, apparel or training programs, and no brand pays to be included in our guides.
